About

Our preschool was founded in the early 1980s by a group of like-minded local parents with preschoolers who met in the community hall. Today it is a licensed early childhood education centre in a purpose built building situated in the hub of the community, next to the Aro Valley Community Centre. The preschool caters for children aged from two to five years of age.

At our preschool we make interesting resources available for children to learn, explore and have fun. The outdoor area has plenty of space for physical challenge. Children and teachers tend gardens that grow fruit and vegetables, and we have lots of challenging outdoor equipment and learning activities. We have a covered outdoor area with climbing features for wet and windy days.

The inside learning environment offers opportunities for art and craft, construction, role play, as well as reading , puzzles and lots of music and  dance at  circle-time.

The preschool is a not-for-profit organisation and is a registered charity. Once a year, at an Annual General Meeting, the preschool co-operative elects a group of parents who are responsible for the governance and management of the preschool.   We hold general meetings, “Co-operative Meetings”, once a term, to which all families/whānau are encouraged to attend. At these meetings parents make important decisions about the running of the preschool.

We have an administration/management support team who oversee the day to day administration and management of the preschool, providing continuity of policies and procedures.
