At last! a new sandpit.
On Wednesday the 17th of April we celebrated the completion of our new sandpit with an early morning launch party. Grant Robertson, our local MP, got up early to join us in marking this important occasion for the preschool and to help Johanna cut the ribbon.  Once the formalities were over, Grant and the children enjoyed getting stuck into the brand new sand.
Anyone who has been involved with the preschool over the last three years will now be smiling when they pass by the preschool or when they enter the playground. It has been a long hard journey.
Lots of sandpit supporters and representatives from our local community came to join the celebration.
At the launch we acknowledged our supporters as follows:
·Chris Reddington from Reddibuild Builders – for his advice, expertise, guidance, perseverance and patience.
·The Terawhiti Charitable Trust for their donation of $1,000 that got us started.
·The Rock Church for their donation of $2,500.
·The Rock Church ‘family’ and their builders for their expertise and labour.
·The Lion Foundation for their donation of $2,500 that made up the difference in the end.
·Shane Hagai Winstone Aggregates for his donation and delivery of sand and gravel.
·Paul Boden, owner Placemakers, Kaiwharawhara for discount on building materials.
·And lots of donors through our Give-a-little page in 2016/2017 - $987.
AND our amazing preschool parents and whānau who have given their time, commitment and energy to fundraising over the last three years.

Special recognition for fundraising went to ex-preschool parents Sacha Green and Rochelle Browne for their efforts as fundraising co-ordinators.
